Applied Optics Minor
Applied Optics is the application of optics to a broad realm of processes and products in industry, such as

- laser materials processing (welding, cutting and heat treating),
- automated inspection and measurement,
- fiber optic communication, and
- remote sensing.
To achieve a minor in Applied Optics, you must complete four courses (16 credits). The minor is not available to Applied Physics majors (they can take a concentration in Applied Optics).
Kettering’s well-respected program is one of the first such programs in the United States.
