Computer Science
Computers, information systems, game systems, web browsers, search engines, application programs: computer science is everywhere. But what is it?

At Kettering, CS majors get a solid foundation in computer software, hardware and theory. At the same time, they can pursue in-depth study outside the computing field. The advantages of CS include:
- small classes from foundation-building math classes, such as Discrete Mathematics, to computer classes, such as Database Systems;
- hands-on experience in two labs, including the CS Systems Laboratory Microcomputer Lab;
- free downloads of Microsoft products included in the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) program;
- early and continuous professional experience through our co-op education program, which offers so much more than a typical internship or part time job. Students gain professional co-op experience at places like UPS, Sun Microsystems and the CIA;
- study abroad opportunities where you'll enroll at one of the top German universities of applied science—without missing a nanosecond of your program; and
- a senior thesis project, in which you’ll demonstrate your skills—and impress prospective employers.
Two concentrations are available:
Three dual degrees are available:
- Computer Science & Applied Mathematics
- Computer Science & Computer Engineering
- Computer Science & Electrical Engineering
You may also minor in Computer Gaming, Computer Science, or System and Data Security—a choice that will enhance your marketability in the real world.
