Manufacturing Engineering FAQ

Why should I pursue a Manufacturing Engineering minor?

There are two major reasons.  First, our economy is built upon the production of quality products, whether for personal or corporate use. Manufacturing engineering courses use industrial grade machinery to teach the processes of material conversion from raw material to finished parts. These courses include discussions of and hands-on experience with material properties, processing controls and their effects on the final product, as well as laboratories in which to experiment for greater understanding. Second, Students choosing this minor will be able to understand the structure and properties of materials, process design and control, tooling for shaping and forming, analysis of quality, and troubleshooting of the process. All of this enables them to lead others in their facility to produce a cost-effective quality product.
