About Flint, Michigan

When you're ready to take a break from the books and labs, there are some great things to see and do in and around Flint and Genesee County. Plus, with seven other colleges and universities in the county, you may even stumble upon some new friends once you get off campus.

The Flint Cultural Center is on a 30-acre campus east of downtown. The Center includes the Longway Planetarium, Sloan Museum, The Whiting Auditorium (home of the Flint Symphony Orchestra), Flint Institute of Arts, the Flint Institute of Music, and Flint Youth Theatre.

Genessee Valley Center offers a new and exciting shopping experience with 65,000 square feet of boulevard-style shopping.

Flint Area Convention & Visitors Bureau - check out the "Pure Fun" the greater Flint area has to offer.

The Flint Farmers' Market is about half a mile northeast of downtown and is one of the state's largest markets with fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and baked goods.

Just east of Flint in Burton is the beautiful For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum which covers almost 400 acres.

Flint Generals Hockey is a popular spectator sport and games are just minutes from downtown Flint. You can also check out eight local golf courses and—just in case you were too embarrassed to ask—four spectacular bowling alleys.

When you want to escape from the present, visit the restored, working community of Crossroads Village. You can ride Michigan's only authentic steam-powered, narrow-gauge rail line and cruise Mott Lake on a paddlewheel riverboat.
